The feedback rounds provide space for reflection on each one\u2019s own work, enriched by the perspectives and ideas of other artists from the field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-text-subtitle is-style-text-subtitle--3\">What We Practice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The aim is to practice and enhance skills at the intersection of dance and film, focusing on aspects like the relationship between the camera and physical movement, and the use of editing to choreograph movement in film. The lab&#8217;s idea is to strengthen existing artistic approaches while exploring and incorporating novel strategies and methods, drawing inspiration and feedback from fellow participants.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-text-subtitle is-style-text-subtitle--4\">Led By<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The lab is collectively facilitated by Anna Athanasiou, Silja Tuovinen, and Sarah M\u00f6ller, who conceived the format.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading is-style-text-subtitle is-style-text-subtitle--5\">Who Can Join<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">It is open to artists working in dance and\/or film who are interested in exploring movement beyond disciplinary boundaries. \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Silja Tuovinen<strong> <\/strong>is a Finnish choreographer with an artistic practice focusing on <em>cinematic expression<\/em>&nbsp;and <em>choreographic film<\/em>. She specialises in consecutive one-take films with long choreographies for both people and the camera. Her patiently crafted film works have been shown in international film festivals, galleries, and site specifically.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Silja\u2019s artistic work is particularly focused on \u201ceternal subjects\u201d such as loss, finitude and death, as well as planetary and cosmic phenomena of massive scale such as running of time and weather conditions. Her work explores the intersection of film, performance, and architecture, engaging with notions of entanglement, spectrality, and ambiguity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From 2012 to 2025, she worked for the international film festival POOL &#8211; MOVEMENT ART FILM Festival Berlin, serving as artistic co-director for many years. <br>She represents the films of New York-based choreographer Yoshiko Chuma and is closely connected with her company, <em>The School of Hard Knocks<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarah has curated film programms in cooperation with teatro san materno, Ascona (CH); La MaMa Moves!, New York (US), National Center for Contemporary Arts, Ekaterinburg (RU); Jumping Frames, Hong Kong (HK), Romanian Architecture Annual, Bucharest (RO), and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She studied Media Culture at the Bauhaus University Weimar, the Universit\u00e9 Lumi\u00e8re Lyon II, and the University of Potsdam (MA).
